Ever wonder who wants a mini notebook? Well I did and I figured I could get by without one. The truth is I probably could get by without one, but after trying such a small and affordable laptop I have to say, it’s hard to see life without one now. It ended up being that one gadget that I never wanted to leave home without one. Well that and my camera.
So how did I get hooked? That’s an easy answer, it’s small, almost miniature like and that’s really the draw. You can talk about the function, the features, or whatever else, but it really comes down to the size and portability of the mini notebook. I can throw it in my bag and it doesn’t feel like I’m carrying a laptop around, it feels like I’ve just got another small gadget in my bag. Eventually I found myself feeling weird not having the mini laptop around. Not in a dependent type of way, but more in a convenience kind of way.
It’s so functional. I didn’t realize this because I grew up in the tech generation, but apparently laptops intimidate people a lot. Think laptops in school, interviews, even talking with someone at a coffee shop. If you have laptop and the other person doesn’t they feel awkward. That wasn’t the case at all with a mini notebook. People didn’t see a threat at all. They were actually interested in it and wanted to know more about it. It actually worked out as more of a conversation piece and ice breaker.
I’m not going to say you need one of these mini notebooks. People got by without them forever and most people still don’t have one. The thing is they make life easier. They make research easier. They also don’t make my shoulder hurt when I carry it around all day. They are worth the small investment, you can get a mini notebook for well under $300.
