Cheap Pink Laptops Have The Last Laugh

We are living in an age where most people don’t know their neighbor or what the name of the next street over is called.  But still, most people want to make a statement of some type that screams out to the world “look at me”!  And this is the perfect niche for a screaming hot pink laptop computer to fill.

We have assembled the Top 10 reasons why pink laptops are such a popular choice with certain folks.

Without a doubt pink is the “in” color for women of all ages.  There are probably a whole lot of reasons why pink is such a sort after color within this demographic group.  If you have ever taken an art class then you probably already know that pink is made by mixing red with white.  Of course the attraction to the color pink did not start with the invention of the laptop.  As a matter of  fact you can trace the history of the color back to the late 17th century.

Although you couldn’t get your hands on a pink laptop that far back in history, you could pull together a cluster of flowers that were pink.  So the word pink was invented to describe the color of a particular flower.  From there it took off to different shades of  pink that were developed from different mixtures of different colors.

But how does all of this relate to laptop computers?  Well you have to go back to the early 1940’s.  It was about at that time that pink started to be associated with girls and it has stayed that way right up until today.  As a matter of  fact pink is now the color that feminist groups use, breast cancer awareness groups make use of, and women make use of as a general sign of their womanliness.

Perhaps the darkest period for the color pink was during the reign of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany.  During those years people who were gay were forced to wear pink triangle patches of cloth on their blouses and shirts to signify to everyone that they were not heterosexual.  The result of this pink sign was that the person was persecuted and more than likely killed.  Not the highlight in history you would want for any color.

How USB Drives Work

Have you ever wondered how it is that your pen drive can hold so much information in such a tiny package? It is truly amazing how many strides computer related technology has taken over the last few years. One of the most impressive aspects of this type of technology is data storage.

The first thumb drives came out only a few years ago and back then they were only able to store a fraction of the information that modern day flash drives can hold. It may seem like some kind of magic but these modern day storage miracles actually all work in the same way. They use flash memory so that they can easily absorb and erase data. Flash memory is so impressive because it does not require a current to hold the information that is stored on it.

So how exactly do the best pen drives work? There are three main parts to a flash memory unit, two transistors and a memory cell. When there is contact between the two transistors, known as the floating gate and the control gate. When these two are connected together, information can be written and stored on the memory cell. When the transistors no longer maintain a connection the cell looses all of its information. This is how you can easily write to and erase USB drives.

Although, it may seem simple when it is broken down like it was above, this type of technology is very intricate and has been developed over years. In relatively short period of time these storage units have grown in storage capacity while shrinking in size. One can only imagine what will be available to us a few years from now. So the next time that you are using your thumb drive, I hope that you appreciate how much work has gone into creating the technology that makes your life so much easier today.

Cell Phone Contracts or Prepaid Mobile Phones

While most people are moving to long-term contracts with their mobile phone service, some people still like to remain free of such long-term commitments. And in fact, there are still some cases where it may behoove you to stick with prepaid cell phones.

The advantages of committing to a cell phone contract are pretty apparent. Fewer usage limitations and a free phone are probably at the top of most lists of these advantages. But such contracts are designed to maximize revenue from you, so you will always find some part of a contract where they will charge you more than you really need to pay.

But believe it or not, some of you out there are not yet completely addicted to hearing from your friends or family members every hour of the days. For you, you may be surprised how little you can pay and still have plenty of talk time with reliable service. In these cases, the cheapest cell phone plan may still be one which you pay in advanced and steer clear of monthly fees and long-term commitments.

My mother-in-law recently paid less than $100 for both a nice cell phone and more than enough minutes to last for 12 months. While this might be an extreme case (she really does not use a cell phone very often), there are less extreme cases where this kind of savings may still be applicable.

Are you not the sort who constantly text messages friends from meetings? Are you not the sort who must have up-to-the-minute updates on Ashton Kutcher’s latest tweets? Then one of the prepaid cell phones may still be the best idea for you.

So you should make sure you know exactly what you really need and keep an open mind to whether you really need to commit yourself to a long-term cell phone contract.
